Dear Members, What a busy summer we have had! Work is coming back to California, thanks to all the hard work of the IA and the West Coast Locals on the tax incentives. We have seen a boom in new media work and as of August 1, the renegotiated new media contracts guarantees rates for our work that are now competitive. We have seen an increase in new members larger than any previous year, which keeps the office hopping. Most important of all has been the purchase and reconstruction of the new CDG home in Burbank. After months of meetings, negotiations, and picking out colors and design elements, we have finally moved to our new building. The process was exciting and we hope you will be as pleased with the results as we are. We look forward to hosting more events and classes in our beautiful new home. We welcome you all to drop by and see this beautiful space we have created for you. I am pleased to have our new Assistant Executive Director, Brigitta Romanov, officially join our team. Brigitta joined the Local in 2007 as an assistant Costume Designer. Some of her credits include Entourage, Jane by Design, and Glee as assistant Costume Designer. She also served on the Executive Board as the assistant Costume Designer representative until 2013, when she reclassified to Costume Designer and took the reins of Glee. Brigitta has a keen mind and her enthusiasm and high energy are a welcome addition to this office. As we begin to enter the holiday season, I wish you all safe and happy holidays and travels.
