The spices and fl avors were memorable. 5. Gelateria Uli – dairy- free gelato was served up alongside its dairy brethren, with fl avors of coconut lemongrass and Baby Crawford Peach. Rich, creamy, and – non-dairy. 6. La Brea Bakery Cafe - a salad/chopped brus- chetta redolent of bal- samic and olive oil, with delicious tomatoes and of course – the bread. The heavenly bread makes this mid-city choice iconic. 7. Lalibela Ethiopian - the yellow len- til curry was just the right mix of spicy, and went incredibly well with the fl uffy, spongy injera bread. While the Fairfax district restaurant does serve meat dishes a-plenty, their special combination plate of fourteen veggie dishes is a compelling and shareable dining option. 8. 118 Degrees - Raw vegan with panache, their offering at The Taste was one of the Tarzana dining spot's signature dishes, thin strips of zucchini "pas- ta" with pesto. 9. Trejo's Tacos - rain- bow caulifl ower with corn, cashew cream, pickled onion, and baby cilantro? Yes. The fast casual restaurant has a number of vegan options on the menu along with more traditional taco dishes. 10. Lamill Coffee - the cold brew coffee itself: delicious.
