6  /  the tasting panel  /  september 2016 by Jessie Birschbach You don't have to be from Northern California to think of Pacific Heights as the name of a prominent neighborhood in San Francisco. However, if you haven't heard of Pacific Heights, don't feel bad, just think of slender, Victorian-inspired homes, hilly green parks and stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. The Full House theme song also comes to mind—but that's just me, and my point is that's not the imagery that has inspired the name of the newly released Pacific Heights collection of wines as part of the Trinchero Family Estates portfolio. Nor has the fruit been harvested from the backyards of the Silicon Valley elite; in fact, this duo of wines is made from Sonoma County grapes: Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley AVA and Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast AVA. It's actually this coastal influence—extending beyond even California— that has served as inspiration for the name. Wendy Nyberg, Vice President of Marketing at Trinchero Family Estates, explains: "Pacific Heights is about owning the Pacific Coast, not necessarily a singular vineyard or winery. The name came to life because the brand is about finding the best expression of what specific regions along the coast have to offer, whether the wine is sourced from Washington State, California or Oregon. . . Pacific Heights represents the marine influence, morning fog, a longer growing season- and all the key assets that make the Pacific Coast's terroir unique. We look forward to taking the Pacific Coast to new heights." Pacific Heights' Arrowhead Vineyard in Sonoma County, CA. UpFront with Pacific Heights
