Many people avoid the topic and hope that they will be compensated for their work eventually, but in reality, the only way to increase your pay is to take action. Before you do that, make sure to be prepared. We asked Kalina Napierala, People Process Leader at BevForce, for a few tips to help get you the raise you want: Have Your Magic Number You need to go into the meeting knowing exactly what you want. Be prepared to negotiate, as you may have to shoot a little higher to settle on your desired number. Do Your Research Bring in competitive salary research for your position and responsibilities (including location and experience)—no one can deny facts! Bring in Your Accomplishments Show that you have consistently accomplished your work and have gone above and beyond your duties by showcasing both quantitative and qualitative results. Suggest Goals Demonstrate that you are confident in your ability to continue to grow and help the company succeed by identifying specific goals you plan to hit. Know Your Worth Believe that you deserve this raise and project positive energy. Confidence will support your claim that you are ready to take on additional respon- sibilities. Feeling motivated?
