B M & T ••• May/June 2016 ••• www.blackmeetingsandtourism.com 17 HOLIDAY INN RESORT® MONTEGO BAY REINSTATES HURRICANE GUARANTEE Consumer Purchase Protection Valid on Resort Stays During the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season The all-inclusive Holiday Inn Resort® Montego Bay has reinstated its Hurricane Guarantee for the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season (May 1 to November 30, 2016). Madden-Greig Group Director of Marketing and Sales, comment- ed on the Hurricane Guarantee, saying: "Thankfully, we've had fewer storms than usual over the past few years, though it's always better to be safe and take advantage of hurricane guarantees like ours when traveling to the Caribbean during the summer months." The program, which provides valuable con- sumer purchase protec- tion against disruptions due to hurricanes, offers two types of protection: Pre-Vacation Guests holding con- firmed reservations with nonrefundable deposits who are unable to travel due to the closure of Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport caused by a Category One or higher hurricane can rebook their reservations for a future resort stay without penalty. A one-category room upgrade will also be provided based on space availability (excludes suites). Mid-Vacation Should a Category One or higher hurricane interrupt resort opera- tions for more than 24 hours, guests already on property will receive a certificate valid for a free future stay. Certificates will be valid for resort stays equal to the number of days that hotel operations are interrupted as determined by the resort. Certificates must be redeemed within one (1) calendar year from the date of issuance. Free future stays will be awarded subject to space availabili ty and certain blackout dates may apply. The Holiday Inn Resort® Montego Bay Hurricane Guarantee is valid exclusively on U.S. bookings for resort stays through November 30, 2016. The Bahamas defends its 2015 Caribbean National Team of the Year, Caribbean Bartender of the Year and Pastry Chef of the Year titles at this year's event. The Bahamas' Tracey Sheldon has been named Pastry Chef of the Year four times. Puerto Rico holds the record with the highest number of Chef of the Year titles with four and will strive to repeat their 2015 victory in this category. St. Lucia will defend their 2015 Caribbean Junior Chef of the Year title. Other participants include Trinidad & Tobago, St. Maarten, Anguilla, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Jamaica, Suriname and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
