The unit features Fairlight's Xynergi center panel and runs on the manufacturer's latest Crystal Core (CC-1) engine. CR Sound handles commercials and feature film work. Virals promote PSP title N EW YORK — Manic direc- tor/VFX ar tist Nick Sasso shot, edited and handled post production on a series of five Web virals that promote the new Sony Playstation Por table title Beat- erator, from Rockstar Games. The videos were created in col- laboration with agency Wax Poetics and feature musicians creating new mixes using the PSP. Sasso drew on the energy of the underground music scene and both Brooklyn and Jersey City landmarks to visualize the spots, which feature ar tists such as Chico Mann and Spree Wilson. In each, the musician is immersed in the por table gaming experience, creating beats using the handheld PSP's interface, and then moving into their own project studio to complete the track. Animated EQ graphic pat- terns bring each spot to a close and reveal the Beaterator logo. Sasso shot the videos over the course of three days using a Red One camera. According to Manic (www.nyc- manic.com) managing director Bob Cagliero, the videos were offlined using Apple Final Cut Pro. Autodesk Flame was used for color correction and finishing. Fran Rober ts ser ved as creative director/designer for Manic; Ben Hill also handled design.
