KOOZA Catch the Cirque du Soleil KOOZA show at Irvine's Orange County Great Park. The performances run though February 14th. This Cirque act involves the magically revolving hyper-human feats of acrobatics and buffoonery. It narrates the journey of The Innocent character as he encounters vibrantly costumed archetypes--the King and the Trickster, among others. The Cirque du Soleil experience is one of wonder and enlightenment, joy and silliness--a show that would surely fit into a romantic evening. The Great Park Balloon has recently changed into an illuminated glowing orb at night, after the hot air balloon received a new bright orange cover envelope in December 2009. For tickets to KOOZA visit www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/ shows/kooza/tickets/irvine. To take a ride in the gondola of the tethered balloon call Great Park Visitors' Center at 866.829.3829 for schedules. Hotel Del Coronado For a change of scene, step into the National Historic Landmark, Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego. On the island of Coronado, this red and white romance factory was where the 1959 romantic comedy starring Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, Some Like it Hot was filmed. The hotel has a Some Like It Hot special package right now which includes a collector's edition DVD and accommodations. Another romance package the Hotel Del Coronado is offering in February is A Night of Romance which includes a two-person breakfast, accommodations, valet parking, champagne and strawberries, and roses. To book reservations visit www. hoteldel.com or call 800.468.3533. It is located at 1500 Orange Ave, Coronado, CA 92118. Amusement Park The final stimulating suggestion for you, dear readers, is to indulge your body in some roller coaster fun! Connecting with someone you love on a thrill ride has got to be at the top of an escapading couple's list! Southern California has more than its fair share of amusement theme parks to choose from. You probably know what they are, but lets do a quick rundown of the variety. Disneyland: a charming jaunt through 3-D version of animated storybook classics and live action movies. This park is geared toward families with young children; many rides are mellow, albeit psychedelic. Disneyland's Space Mountain and Indiana Jones are a bit more heart thumping. Disney's California Adventure Park: Though there are kiddie rides, it is more for the adult audience with scarier rides like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and California Screamin'. Universal Studios: This park is all about the behind-the-scenes of Hollywood film production. Newer exhilarating rides are The Simpson's, Revenge of the Mummy and Jurassic Park. Knott's Berry Farm: In Buena Park, it is recently under new management. The park features a lot of height launching rides and coasters such as Supreme Scream, Rip Tide and GhostRider. Six Flags Magic Mountain: There are no shortages of wild, nauseating (potentially) roller coasters for thrill-seekers in this Valencia, CA park. This playground would make anyone's vestibular system go haywire with rides like Riddler's Revenge, Terminator Salvation and Viper.
