WE ARE GRATEFUL AND HUMBLED by the amount of support and enthusiasm we received after launching the inaugural issue of The Clever Root. As we continue to find our voice in the world of cannabis, agriculture and the culinary arts, around every corner, it seems, we are finding like-minded growers, producers and chefs who care immensely about their craft and are bringing the best product and experiences to their respective audiences. We are inspired by these people and organizations, from True Humboldt, which strives to bring consistency in prac- tices and resources to the growing cannabis community (see page 72), to the team at Bonterra, who continue to dive into the complex and fascinating practice of Biodynamic agricul- ture (page 36), and the James Beard Foundation (page 34), which constantly seeks to recognize exceptional individuals in the food and wine industries. In bringing you their stories, we hope to inspire you, our ever hungry, curious and clever readers, to go out and taste, explore and savor the vibrant culture of food and farms that our land has to offer. . . . and watching them grow.
