The hotel is in the final phase of a $25 million dollar renovation of the 631-room property located in this urban neighborhood in the southeastern corner of Arlington County, Virginia, south of downtown Washington, D.C. The transformation included the hotel's guestrooms, entry, two-story lobby and bar to reflect DoubleTree by Hilton's emphasis on guest comfort and relax- ation. In addition, the hotel upgraded the Wi-Fi system in all guest rooms to increase speed and connectivity for today's connected traveler. "We are excited to complete this comprehensive renovation, which allows DoubleTree by Hilton Crystal City to deliver a best-in-class hot el experience to our customers," said Dori Familiant, general manager. "These major enhancements enable our hotel to offer new and returning guests an elevated experience when visiting our nation's capital. All DoubleTree by Hilton Washington DC-Crystal City's 631 gue- strooms and suites have been redesigned and feature soothing colors to accent the feeling of comfort. The finished product offers a luxu rious DoubleTree by Hilton Sweet Dreams bed, 32" LCD television, Cuisinart single-cup coffeemaker, a work desk with ergonomic chair, an upgraded Wi-Fi system and a digital panel that allows guests to connect and charge several digital devices at once. Cozy lighting and contemporary original art- work complete the look. The renovated guest bathrooms feature Kohler fixtures, granite countertops and delux e showerheads. In addition to guestrooms, the hotel completed a lobby renovation cre- ated to provide a social area for guests to relax, entertain or just hang out and people watch. Part of the goal for the redesigned space was to create more areas where guests can socialize or relax more privately. For example, the main bar – which was previously surrounded by low walls – was opened up and became th e focal point of the main lobby area. Along the main window wall, high-back lounge chairs and sectional couch- es are clustered between partial-height millwork 'TV Pods' which give guests a more private gathering area. "Whether our guests are on a family trip or staying for business, the lobby area has become a very i mportant part of the hotel experience. Many guests prefer to check their email in a soci al space – or enjoy some food or leisure time with friends," said Familiant, "A hotel is no longer just a place to lay your head, it is a destination for events and conferences which offer spaces for guests and attendees to gather and interact."
