Bits & Pieces 3008 completes Metro PCS package D ALLAS — Editor Marc Stone of 3008 (www.3008.com) recently completed work on a six-spot cam- paign for Metro PCS. Conceived by The Richards Group, the campaign shows a world where every- one's life is on the move in a symbiotic unison. Luc Janin of Shilo, New York, directed the campaign, which was shot using Canon's 7D and 5D, and Arri's Alexa. Sync Cities, Store, Hat and Rhapsody are airing nationally. Hispanic versions of Sync Cities and Store are also airing in select markets. According to TRG creative director Chuck Schiller, the spots have an organic feel, but involved a large cast and many different situa- tions. "We worked without a storyboard and got our client involved early, viewing offline during the first week editing." The spot was finished in Smoke. "The challenge was creating six distinctive cityscape stories that felt authentic, with a unique but common thread and all culminat- ing to the brand message: moving to Metro," notes editor Stone. "In Sync Cities, we wanted to show that people from all walks of life Post Magazine (09,28,2011).pdf 1 9/28/2011 10:54:06 AM move through life in similar fashion daily. To accomplish that feeling we focused on matching everyone's leg, arm and body movements." 3008 edited in Media Composer and finished in Smoke. Pro Tools was used for sound design and mixing.. Beacon Street composed the music. 3008 sound designer/mixer was Matt Cimino. Also from 3008: finishing/ VFX editor Mark Sullivan, senior post producer Anne Strock and assistant editor Jenna Milano. Radar shapes UW's image C HICAGO — Agency Hiebing called on Radar Studios (www.radarstudios.com) to help create an animated image spot for cli- ent, the University of Wisconsin. The piece is designed to let viewers know about the school's innovative work. The spot shows unexpected relationships: a bountiful farm hidden within a disease-resistant cabbage; the power of a combustion engine the size of a smartphone; and the gateway to the universe through a snowy landscape. Radar Studios used 2D and 3D animation to construct photoreal mountains, farm life and automobile engines. They used Maya, mixed with Vue, for the 3D portions and ren- dered in Maxwell. Compositing and lighting treatments were performed in After Effects.
