EVENT PREVIEW T he Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival's annual media preview provided an exclusive sneak peek of what will be offered by participating wineries, spirits suppliers and restaurants at the second annual Festival, which will take place October 2–4, 2015 in Newport Beach, CA. The preview featured wine presented by Certified Sommelier Stewart Prato, California Statewide Director for Maisons Marques & Domaines, and specialty cocktails with ABSOLUT Elyx Vodka. Along with wine and cocktails, many cuisines were featured by 13 restau- rants and chefs, giving us a glimpse of what is to come in October. The Festival will offer tastings of luxurious wines from the best of American Wines' and Southern Wine & Spirits' exquisite portfolios, and wine tasting panels will be led by a panel of Master Sommeliers, includ- ing industry expert Fred Dame of Southern Wine & Spirits. The Festival is not only for the wine enthusiast, but for spirits aficionados as well. Guests can enjoy mixology courses led by Tricia Carr, Director of Mixology for Southern Wine & Spirits, as well as handcrafted cocktails with ABSOLUT Elyx, Cruzan Rum, Duke Spirits, Laphroaig Scotch, Roca Patrón and other high-end spirits. The weekend will kick off with a launch party taking place at Oak Grill & Aqua Lounge on the evening of Friday, October 2. The main event, the Daytime Festival, is being held on the grounds of the contemporary Newport Beach Civic Center on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4. The epicurean adventure includes live cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, book signings, wine panels with Master Sommeliers, mixology classes, samplings from prestigious Orange County restaurants, world-class wine and spirit tastings and live jazz.
