Meanwhile, the improvements in VUE 2015 include faster rendering, improved overall performance, a new non- photorealistic renderer, a redesigned interface that users can customize to their liking, a new displacement mapping en- gine, and many more features. VUE xStream 2015 retails for $1,995. New features include multiple overlay tracks and blending modes in the time- line, enhanced audio editorial tools for viewing an audio track waveform within the timeline and applying cross-fades and fade in/out to audio tracks using handles, and a burn-in so effect added to the real-time in-timeline effects. There is also native support for stereo play- back in the new version. www.thefoundry.co.uk E D I T I N G New Resolve Blackmagic Design has an- nounced DaVinci Resolve 12, a major upgrade with over 80 new features for professional editing and color grading. This update includes a new modern inter- face, multi-cam editing, new media management tools, an entirely new professional audio engine with support for VST/ AU plug-ins, shot matching, 3D keyer, updated 3D perspective tracker, enhanced curve editing, and more. The updated DaVinci Resolve 12 will be available in July for download from the Blackmagic Design website free of charge for all current DaVinci Resolve customers. www.blackmagicdesign.com R E V I E W / A S S E T M A N A G E M E N T Dynamic Duo Shotgun Soware has unveiled Shotgun 6 and RV 6, which now work together without any required end-user configuration. Shotgun is the cloud-based production tracking, review, and asset management soware for film, TV, and games, recently ex- panded via acquisition with RV, a desktop image and sequence player. Shotgun 6 will now include direct access to RV 6 at no extra cost to users, with the latest releases of both Shotgun 6 and RV 6 also offering new features to boost production efficiency, including new project templates, enhanced navigation and browsing, improved Flame integration, and an updated loader. Among the new features in RV 6 is a licensing option that allows users to access RV using their Shotgun user name and password. Shotgun 6 with RV 6 integration starts at $30 per account per month with "Awesome" support.
