art & soul M ost of us probably agree we are facing serious issues on our planet today that are cause for grave concern, and that a healthy future may not be possible, but Barbara Marx Hubbard steers clear of despair as she shares her inspiring message: Our current situation is nothing more than birth pains, and by applying ourselves with a fresh vision we can believe in more than just survival; we can, in fact, co-create an actual global renaissance. In this newly revised edition of Conscious Evolution the author focuses on the latest scientifi c knowledge and advances in technology, then combines these with compassionate spirituality and illustrates many exciting opportunities available for each of us in what may be the most creative stage human history has ever seen. She notes how new ideas capable of transforming society have consistently emerged over time, and that what she calls a "conscious evolution" is in actuality another new worldview arising. Hubbard believes that while evolution has been proceeding along quite well for billions of years, we are now at a point in time where we as a species have the capacity to consciously evolve. She believes we need a "coordinated plan, as great as, or greater than the technological plan for the lunar landing," and proposes that we declare within this decade to "launch the Global Moon Shot: a ten years process to scan for, map, connect and communicate what is working in the world toward a sustainable, evolvable, spiritually fulfi lling world for all." As more of us become aware of the potential of a co-creative response to this shared crisis, we may indeed discover many new and innovative solutions, and with enough of us embracing the needed changes, a positive outcome might really be possible. (New World Library) —Deborah Mokma BOOKS Conscious Evolution Awakening the Power of Our Social Potential (Rev. Ed. 2015) By Barbara Marx Hubbard By Hadley Fitzgerald & Judith Harte Although at fi rst glance the concept of combining astrology and psychotherapy may appear at to be at odds with the nature of each approach, according to Hadley Fitzgerald (licensed psychotherapist and astrologer) and Judith Harte (archetypal astrologer and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), as- trological symbolism, Depth Psychotherapy and Imaginal Psy- chology can be applied in tandem, each enhancing the others, throughout the psychotherapeutic process. In Images of Soul, a chronicling through correspondence that spanned more than 30 years, these two friends share how their initial exploration of the "acorn theory" of archetypal psy- chologist James Hillman (who believed each incarnation has its own "code" or calling) ultimately became a new approach whereby astrology is able to discover an individual's personal archetypes and pathway. Fitzgerald explains how she uses astrology's ancient arche- typal symbols within the foundation of traditional therapeutic methods to assist clients with a variety of images to explore mythic aspects along with their emotions, possible choices and personal expression to help the evolution of the daimon, or soul. Harte, with a great love for the language of myth and story that is used by astrology and an ap- preciation for the many ways the psyche may be perceived, describes how she addresses crisis intervention and the problems of daily life, as well as the myth- ic aspects of a patient's experience, in her clinical practice. Highly recommended for professionals and novices alike, Images of Soul adds a new dimension to discovering how the mystery of one's astrological profi le can be integrated with imagery to further understanding of our path in life.
