Locals have caught Mammoth fever too, however. "You can lose yourself here," says longtime resident and restaurateur Carey Sigmen, who owns The Mogul, a popular dining spot that has weathered a 40-year history in Mammoth Lakes. While Sigmen took ownership in 1998 (from then-owner Dan Haydon), the former Los Angeles real estate salesman has been a resident in the Eastern Sierra ski resort community for almost three decades. "When I moved here, I skied for about 100 days a year—then I got a job as a server [at The Mogul] and working cut that time in half," he admits.
