www.postmagazine.com 42 POST MARCH 2015 AXLE VIDEO TO EXPAND RANGE OF MEDIA MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS BOSTON — Axle Video (www.axlevideo.com) will feature new products, new capabilities and new solution partnerships that significantly expand the appli- cations of its "radically simple" approach to media management. The company boasts affordable and easy-to-use solutions, as well as new features, enhance- ments, and increased scale that deliver a significant upgrade for customers. Axle 2015 is a low-cost software system offering speed and agility in plan- ning, pre-editing, and reviewing and approving workflows. With a completely re-architected platform, Axle media management more than doubles scal- ability to over 600,000 media assets, addressing a common requirement for large post houses. The architecture supports multiple coordinated servers and the system expands incrementally along with customer needs. Axle's brows- er-based user interface gains refinements that provide more powerful opera- tion, workflow speed, and a cleaner layout. The company is also offering Axle Edit, a rough-cut editing module for iPad and iPhone featuring touch-based subclip selection and sequence assembly on a timeline. Media can be played back in low resolution, then rendered in high-resolution formats on the Axle server. The company is also offering a number of software bundles and presenting partner- ship demonstrations throughout the NAB show floor. Axle 2015 software starts at $1,695 for five users; Axle Edit software starts at $795 for two users — both are cur- rently shipping. SONY EXPANDS TRIMASTER EL SERIES WITH FIRST OLED FOR PRO VIDEO PARK RIDGE, NJ — Sony's (www. pro.sony.com) new BVM-X300 OLED master monitor combines, which will be on display at this year's NAB, is a 4K resolution, High Dynamic Range and a Wide Color Gamut display. The 30-inch model expands Sony's Trimaster EL series and pro- vides an OLED option for pro video production applications, including color grading, on-set monitoring and quality control in a 4K workflow. In addition to the high-contrast performance of the entire Trimaster EL OLED panel, this new monitor offers High Dynamic Range mode, giving users the ability to view the entire range of an image accurately and clearly. The monitor also has a new-integrated control panel with integrated inputs. This means there are no options required to complete the system, giving users a "plug-and-play" solution right out of the box. The emission layers in the new monitor's 4K panel as well as new lay- ering design give the BVM-X300 the ability to display ITU-R BT709 and DCI-P3 color gamuts more accurately than any previous Sony Trimaster display. In addition, the new BVM-X300 can display 80 percent of the new ITU-R BT2020 color gamut. This master monitor, which supports both 2 Sample Interleave (2SI) and Square Division signals, HD signals including 3G-SDI Quad-link up to 4096 x 2160/48p 50p 60p, 3G-SDI single link for 1920 x 1080/50p 60p, YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit, and 3G-SDI dual link for 1920 x1080/50p 60p, 4:4:4 12/10-bit, will be available in February. VIDCHECK TO DEMO NEW VIDCHECKER & VIDFIXER BRISTOL, UK — Vidcheck (www. vidcheck.com), a specialist supplier of automated quality control software with patent- ed intelligent video and audio correction, will demonstrate the latest version of its Vidchecker and Vidfixer product suites at this year's NAB show. These have been extended to include a range of video applications (Vidapps) for Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, enabling users to check and automatically correct video and audio errors without leaving the Adobe environment. File-based automated quality control (AQC) and correction is rapidly expand- ing. In the UK many post companies use Vidcheck AQC to check the pre-delivery quality of file-based media. Vidcheck's core Vidchecker and Vidfixer AQC products are scalable from low-cost versions for post production to sophisticated Vidchecker/Vidfixer Grid systems, suitable for large enterprises. In addition to watch folder automation, Vid- check's API has been integrated into many MAM and workflow engine solutions across the industry for seamless addition of complex AQC into any workflow. MATROX TO INTRODUCE VS4RECORDER PRO MULTI-CAMERA RECORDING APP MONTREAL — Matrox Video (www.matrox.com/video) will showcase its new VS4Recorder Pro multi-camera recording app, designed for use with Matrox VS4 quad HD capture cards. Each VS4Recorder Pro system frame-accurately captures up to four video and audio inputs to create files for use with popular editing apps from Adobe, Apple and Avid, and for archiving. H.264 is provided in either MOV or MP4 wrap- pers. AVI files can be created using the high-quality Matrox MPEG-2 I-Frame codec. MOV QuickTime files can be created using DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO HD. VS4Recorder Pro also functions as a multiviewer, offering pristine video quality even when monitoring inter- laced sources on progressive computer monitors. NAB PRODUCTS
