BEATCAN.COM LAUNCHES 2.0 WEBSITE LOS ANGELES — Beatcan (www.beatcan.com), which launched in December, has up- graded its Website to Version 2.0, allowing users of the mu- sic library to purchase single tracks without a subscription and even obtain exclusive buyouts of tracks. Beatcan.com aims to be a one-stop solution for profes- sional, royalty-free music and sound effects, and at a much lower price than its competi- tors. Navigation allows users to search by genre, instrument, mood or project. All of the site's tracks were created by professional producers, and once downloaded, are the customers' to keep forever. Each composition is more than just a final mix. Beatcan offers the stems (multi-tracks) and Pro Tools session files to give the user a range of option. All content on Beatcan.com is cleared world- wide and may be used for any project: commercial or personal, including feature film, documentaries, broadcast, commercials, industrial, educational, games and Internet content. "Major agencies and brands started asking for exclusivity on files," explains Andy Andersson, CEO of Beatcan. "Requests for exclusive buyouts is a testament to the quality we are offering on the site. The second new feature is to allow users to purchase tracks individually, without a subscription. We didn't even consider this as an option in the beginning, but it was a major discussion in our feedback. As soon as we added the feature, we saw immediate results." 5 ALARM COVERS HIP HOP WITH BEAT XPLOSION PASADENA, CA — 5 Alarm Music (www.5alarmmusic.com) recently added a new library of hip hop and rap music to its collection of 80 diverse music libraries. In addition to licensing, 5 Alarm also provides music replacement services for films and TV shows whose budgets don't allow for long-term rights to particular songs.
