In this role it is my intent to deepen my involvement and advocacy for Great Public Schools with the Arizona Education Association. I believe my representation in Region 6 has helped both my local and regional associations with increased engagement, advocacy and membership. I choose to teach in Arizona to ensure that my son was provided with a quality and equitable public school system. My son Vicente is now a third grader in the Roosevelt School district, and I am proud to say he is thriving. I am now in my 9th year teaching in the Isaac School District, as a middle school Social Studies teacher, and I love my profession! I believe that public education is the cornerstone to a democratic country. Over these nine years I have seen my son and my students classrooms cut deeper and deeper. As a taxpayer, a teacher and a mother I continue to be infuriated with the continual attacks on our classroom and our profession. It is now more than ever that we need people committed to our schools, communities and our students to ensure that our state has a prosperous future.
