Gaudet will play an instrumental role in sharing San Antonio's exceptional meeting pack- age with industry professionals. Gaudet recently joined the SACVB team as a Washington D.C.-based senior sales manager. She's San Antonio's second D.C.-based sales manager dedicated to the National Association market. Gaudet was previously a senior sales manager for the 1,900-room San Francisco Hilton. Prior to that, she was a national accounts representative for Gaylord Hotels based in Washington D.C. Gaudet is a San Antonio native and graduate of Texas Tech University. Devon Whitaker serves as the national sales director of the Philadelphia Con- vention & Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB). In her position, which she has held since July, Whitaker is responsible for the DC/MD/VA market, booking between 1,501 to 4,500 total room nights per group. Whitaker boasts over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry. In her most recent posi- tion, she served as the national sales manager for Destination DC where, for three years, she exceeded sales goals and expectations. Her abil- ity to cultivate and maintain great client relation- ships resulted in her being able to confirm six new annual conventions for Washington, D.C. Whitaker began her career in hospitality at the front desk of the Inner Harbor Marriott in Baltimore, MD. During the regu- lar monthly meeting of the Dallas Cou- nty Community College District's (DCCCD) board of trustees, members elected a new chair, Charletta Rogers C o m p t o n . Compton, who has served as a DCCCD trustee since 2000 for District 7, succeeds Jerry Prater of Garland, who has been chair of the board for 11 years. Compton is the first ethnic minority to serve as chair of the DCCCD board. Compton earned her associate degree from Mountain View College and her bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University. Compton also earned certification as a contract compli- ance administrator. She previously served as vice chair for the DCCCD board of trustees from July 2010 to June 2012. She also has served as chair of the DCCCD audit committee. Her term expires in 2018. Abby Terhark has joined the staff of the Springfield, Mis- souri, Convention & Visitors Bureau as advertising sales ass- istant. Terhark will assist Jane Rips, partner development manager, with advertising sales; data entry of advertising sales contracts and billing information; phone, e-mail and in-person follow up with advertising clients; updating the client history database; trafficking advertising sales materials to ensure advertisers are proper- ly represented; conducting advertiser benefit seminars; organizing sales promotional materi- als, etc. The Springfield, Missouri CVB is a nonprofit marketing agency dedicated to improving the local economy through growth in travel and tourism. The Hampton Convention & Visi- tor Bureau (CVB) is happy to announce the hiring of Charles Waddell as Group Sales manager. Waddell will pri- marily focus on trade, state, and national associations for the bureau. A 15-year veteran of the hospitality industry, he most recently worked as director of Sales and Marketing for the Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Other past positions include sales manager for the Renaissance Portsmouth Hotel, as well as several management positions for the former Holiday Inn Portsmouth over a five year period. Waddell holds a BS in Nutrition with a minor in Hospitality Management from Western Carolina University. The Hampton CVB is a department of the City of Hampton charged with increasing tax rev- enue attributed to visitor spending. The San Fran- cisco Travel Asso- ciation has named Antonette Eckert to the position of direc- tor, International Tou- rism-Asia/Pacific. In her new role, Eckert will manage ongoing tourism sales pro- grams in the Asia/Pacific region, including China, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India and Southeast Asia. She will be instrumental in developing the long term strategic vision of tourism relative to the Asia/Pacific market, includ- ing identifying new markets, expanding the client base, increasing results from new and existing tour operators and enhancing the relationship with San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Eckert comes to San Francisco Travel from Visit California where she was director of Asia Marketing and previously Advertising and Co-op Marketing manager. S p e a k i n g O f P e o p l e
