Here's a glimpse at some of the faces behind the awarded brands, as well as some of the industry insiders who came out to taste them! And the Tour Goes On! by Nicolette Teo The San Francisco Competitions Double Gold Tour gives the 2014 Double Gold winners added exposure in front of key trade and press all over the country, such as Sarah Ford, Beverage Manager of Aquavit in New York City. "Attending a tasting like the San Francisco Competitions Double Gold Tour is an essential part in understanding the wines that our guests would enjoy, with the added opportunity to taste many gems that should belong on our list," says Ford. "One of my favorites from the lineup is the Champagne Collet 2004 Brut," quips Ford. "It's a rich and luxurious Champagne that is perfect as an aperitif, but big enough to stand up to our full tasting menu." Winning Best Sauvignon Blanc on top of its Double Gold was Sileni Estates 2013 The Straits Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. "We are thrilled that our Sauvignon Blanc has taken top awards at the San Francisco International Wine Competition," says Nigel Avery, CEO of Sileni Estates USA. "The Straits Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from our top vineyards in Marlborough. The different characteristics from these sites provide depth and complexity of flavor in our Sauvignon Blanc," adds Avery. CREDIT: "We are very happy with our Double Gold medal," says Steve Gertman, President and Master Distiller for Breaker Small Batch Bourbon. "The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the pinnacle for our industry, and we're pleased to be in such good company." Breakers Small Batch Bourbon is the first bourbon out of Southern California since Prohibition. Gertman takes advantage of the temperature fluxes from the warm days and cool nights of Santa Barbara to make for unique aging conditions for his small batch bourbon.
