Led by Don and Rhonda Carano, the entire Ferrari-Carano team resembles a hard-working, passionate family whose dedication to memorable wines reflects their desire to enhance the pleasures of gracious entertaining. This holiday season, like so many before, Ferrari-Carano will deliver the gift of great wines to your customers, and THE TASTING PANEL caught up with Sarah Quider, Executive Winemaker at Ferrari- Carano to get a few of her recommendations to keep things merry and bright. With rich aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum, cinnamon and toasty oak notes, the Ferrari-Carano 2012 Pinot Noir AV ($34) and the Ferrari-Carano 2012 Sky High Ranch Pinot Noir ($48)—vanilla, cedar, black fruits, mocha, chocolate and spice—"make the perfect pairing with Thanksgiving turkey," recommends Quider. Respectively, the wines come from vineyards in Anderson Valley and the adjacent Mendocino Ridge— known as an up-and-coming appellation ideal for growing Pinot Noir grapes. "The wines show wonderful rich aromas and flavors with great intensity and balance," Quider continues. As for those cold, quiet nights by the fire, the Ferrari-Carano 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon ($34) offers vibrant flavors of blackberry, cassis, toasty cedar, licorice, smoked currant and mocha to keep you warm and comfortable. Enjoying a romantic candle-lit dinner or family feast? The Ferrari-Carano 2011 Trésor ($52)—a blend of Bordeaux varieties—supplies flavors of boysenberry, cedar, baking spices and vanilla that pair beautifully with a hearty lamb stew or beef tenderloin. The entire Ferrari-Carano family loves and enjoys their food, and they especially like to share their knowledge and expertise. For recipes and more pairing suggestions to help you this holiday season, head on over to www.ferrari-carano.com, or give yourself a true treat and visit the team at the Estate in Dry Creek Valley—either way it's guaranteed to be a red Christmas with these wonderful wine selections!
