Evaluators Question: Who are the "expert evaluators?" Answer: "Expert evaluators" will be dis- trict office administrators, lead mentors and the people hired to be "development coaches." The expert evaluators are also expected to coach and model effective evalua- tion, and will have additional resources available to help adminis- trators. All of the development coaches must become "expert evalu- ators" before they can begin coach- ing administrators in DPASII- Revised this coming year. They must also successfully pass the eLearning training modules. Development Coaches Question: How do the "develop- ment coaches" fit in with DPASII training? I heard there aren't enough for all administrators. Answer: Yes, the "development coaches" are another resource for evaluators since these coaches are hired and trained (with Race to the Top fund- ing) to work with administrators to properly evaluate teachers and administrators. Unfortunately, only 60 of the state's approximately 180 school buildings will have development coaches assigned, though every dis- trict will have at least one building with a development coach. Coaches will spend four hours/week in their assigned buildings. The administra- tors selected to have development coaches will take the DASL training in DPASII. This is an eight-hour training that includes: changes in DPAS; frameworks; pre and post conferences; writing an effective Improvement Plan. Finally, every district's Race to the Top Scope of Work Plan includes commitment to see that district administrators are trained in DPASII-Revised, to be faithful to the regulations and the directives in the DPASII-Revised guide. You can find your district's RTTT Scope of Work Plan here: (Scroll to bottom of page to find your district.) Is the district's plan being imple- mented? www.dsea.org September 2011 DSEA ACTION! 9 Find the DPASII- Revised Interim Year Guides for Teachers and Specialists on the Dept. of Education web- site at www.doe. k12.de.us/dpasii/ default.html. www.doe.k12.de.us/rttt/dist_plan ning.shtml
