The New York Screen Actors Guild/Writers Guild of America East Film Society is a non-profit organization created to allow actors to observe other actors' performances in order to improve their own skills, and to raise awareness of current productions. The 2011/12 season begins September 2011 and runs through August 2012. The cost is $110 for a renewal with no new card, or $125 for a new membership or a renewal with a new card. As a guideline, though not a guarantee, for the past five seasons we've screened more than 30 films per season at the DGA Theater and have shown some of the most nominated films of the year. The screenings continue to be held at the Directors Guild of America Theater, 110 West 57th St., NY, NY. FOR CONVENIENCE, THE FILM SOCIETY NOW OFFERS ONLINE REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD! Visit SAG.org/nyfilmsociety to register and pay by credit card. APPLICATION RULES 1. Register online or complete the application to the right. If we still have openings on August 1, you may walk in your application with the correct amount in certified check or money order. No personal checks will be accepted aſter August 1. CALL THE HOT LINE, 212-827-1592, before coming in to see if spots are still available. 2. Membership cards, or notification of acceptance, will be mailed on or about August 31, 2011 to your official SAG or WGAE address only. If you changed your address between the time you sent in the application and August 31, you must notify the membership office and the committees office. You should also notify the Pension & Health Plan Office. 3. lf you have not received your card or letter of acceptance by Sept 6, please contact the committees office at 212-827-1448. If you fail to notify us by Sept. 26, your card will be treated as a lost card and you will be charged the replacement fee. 4. Aſter Sept. 26, there will be a fee of $25 (check or money order) for processing and issuing (for any reason) a replacement membership card. You must come to the committees office at 360 Madison -12th floor- to fill out a replacement form. Either the card will be ready for pick up at the theater at the next screening or, if not processed by that time, your name will be on a list at the theater. 5. No refunds will be issued for any reason (i.e. unused screenings, change of mind, moving out of the area, etc.). RULES FOR ATTENDING THE SCREENINGS A. The theater doors close promptly at the scheduled screening time or when the theater capacity is reached – whichever comes first. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANYONE BE ADMITTED AFTER THE DOORS CLOSE! B. If you leave the theater building once your card has been scanned, you will not be allowed to re-enter. C. Admittance to screenings is by official membership card only. D. Membership cards are not transferable. The Film Society member is entitled to bring only one guest who must attend the same screening as the member and also be 16 years of age or older. In the absence of the Film Society member, the regular quest (the guest who usually accompanies the member) will be admitted upon presenting the member's card. In this scenario, the guest, and only the quest, will be admitted. No additional guest will be admitted and no one else may use the card. E. Members arriving before their guest may leave THEIR GUEST'S NAME on the Courtesy Guest List at regularly scheduled films only. Members MAY NOT wait in the lobby for guests. Guests MUST arrive before the doors close and MUST stand on line. At all bonus films and one show screenings of films, there will be NO Courtesy Guest list. Guests will have to enter with the member. Note: The member is responsible for guest's behavior at all times. F. The film society reserves the right to change the guest policy at any time. G. Dress for the weather. We have a small lobby and cannot guarantee that you will be let in early to form a line downstairs. H. NO SMOKING - NO FOOD - NO DRINKS. The DGA reserves the right to cancel the current contract and to refuse to negotiate future contracts if this is violated. Therefore, if you are found with food or drink you will be asked to leave the theater. I. Violations of the SAG/WGAE FILM SOCIETY Rules and Regulations by the Film Society member and/or their guest may result in the forfeiture of your current membership and future membership.
