FOR MEMBERS SAG PRODUCTION CENTER 1,100+ PRODUCERS SIGN ONLINE S creen Actors Guild's new online Production Center is proving to be a genuine hit with producers. By late July, less than two months aſter its official debut, the site achieved a major milestone: More than 1,100 producers had signed up through the online resource. Officially unveiled June 4 at the Producers Guild of America's Produced By Conference in Burbank, Calif., the SAG Production Center is the first tool of its kind, and could revolutionize the way union agreements are signed in the entertainment industry. Producers of short, student, new media, ultra low budget and corporate/educational projects can use the site to digitally fill out the required signatory forms. The site also features helpful tutorial videos, as well as testimonials from producers who have signed electronically. Best of all, the Production Center makes staying organized easy, and lets producers know exactly what is expected of them each step of the way. SAG National Executive Director David White said the Production Center is just another way SAG is using technology to streamline the Guild's work, get more value for its members and encourage more productions to go union. "We are proud to roll out the SAG Production Center, which utilizes technology to save producers time and smooth the process of becoming a signatory," White said. White emphasized that staff members remain committed to helping users through the process, so if producers have questions, the answers are only a phone call or email message away. Producers have high praise for the follow-up they receive from SAG staff, as well as for the smoothness of the process as a whole. "I was afraid that there might be a lot of red tape, but I found it really quite easy," said student film producer Phil Snyder, who signed SAG for his production Just Add Milk. "It made me look professional to my actors; it made them feel comfortable knowing that they were doing something that was sanctioned by the Screen Actors Guild." Eric Benz, who produced the short film When It Matters, said the online Production Center radically simplifies what could otherwise be an overwhelming process for first-timers. "When you're doing a first project, it can be difficult because the learning curve is pretty steep. There's all this paperwork you have to sort through and figure out. When you know ahead of time, it's a lot easier. With the online process, the system is a lot clearer." Visit SAG.org/ProductionCenter to see everything the Production Center has to offer.
