Debbie Miller, born in Toronto and raised in Montreal, is the account director for Canadian Corporate at Tourism Toronto. Miller has worked with Tourism Toronto for almost 20 years, and while her primary market at the bureau is Canadian corporate, she works with the African-American meetings industry as well. Over the years Toronto, which is conveniently located and a short hour flight to 60% of the US population, has enjoyed continuous growth from this market. According to Miller, a graduate from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto has so many attributes (i.e. location, diversity, safety, convention centers, hotels), it’s a very easy city to sell. Millennium Hotels & Resort have announced the appointment ofDaniel J. Dolce as the new vice president of Sales for the US Region. Dolce, the former vice president of Global Sales at Dolce Hotels and Resorts in 2007, brings with him a lifetime of passion and natural talent to Millennium Hotels & Resorts. In his new post, Dolce will be responsible to oversee the overall growth and integration of Millennium into new markets.His past experience will assist him as he spearheads the US sales force while supervising, motivating and manag- ingMillennium’s expert sales teams. A resident of West Nyack, N.Y., Dolce will be based in Millennium’s NewYork office. After announcing a collaborative merger agreement with the SanDiego North Convention & Visitors Bureau in late 2010, the San Diego Conven- tion & Visitors Bureaurecently estab- lished a North County specialist sales team, including Sonia Storbeck, who will serve as national sales Director and North County specialist, handling the incentive,entertainment, retail and consulate markets for the western region.With 12 years of marketing and sales experience,Storbeck previously served as sales manager for the Peninsula Beverly Hills and various sales positions with the Ritz-Carlton in Southern California, LasVegas and Florida. The Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) is pleased to announce that Chief Marketing Officer Sonya Bradley has assumed oversight of the Tourism Department. In this capacity, Bradley will create and implement sales and marketing strategies and programs designed to increase Sacramento’s leisure group travel market share. The SCVB Tourism department is responsible for booking non-convention group tours, including domestic (adult and student/youth) and international groups. In 2009-10, group travel generated $3.4 million in economic impact. Bradley has been with the SCVB since 2002, most recent- ly as vice president of Marketing. The Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort, located in Nassau, The Baha- mas, has announced the appointment of Christerlina Francis as Catering & Convention manager. Francis was most recently an account manager at Central Clearing Agency Ltd. in Nassau, where she managed client accounts, maintained customer data- bases and handled a variety of other administrative duties. Prior to that position, she gained more than 10 years of event planning experience as the personal assistant of VIP operations at the Potamac Corporation in New York. During her time there, she assisted in planning weddings, parties, marketing promotions, advertisements and more. The Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort has also reassigned Lynne Johnson, who joined the property in 2009 as director of Banquet Sales, a position in which she was responsible for effec- tively monitoring the daily operations of the banquet department, including providing support to banquet person- nel to ensure positive guest experi- ences. In her new role as director of Catering & Convention Services, Johnson will train, supervise and work with all catering and convention services staff. In addition to bringing in new group event business, she will also plan, merchandise, and execute functions as they relate to hotel operations.
