INDUSTRY SPOTLIGHT APPOINTMENTS Carmel Andrews. Independent Distillers, a producer and distributor of ready-to-drink (RTD) brands in both Australia and New Zealand, has appointed Carmel Andrews as Chief Financial Offi cer, North America. “Carmel has an extraordinary history of success in international business,” says Bruce Herman, President of Independent Distillers. “Her expertise in all things fi nancial, commercial and operational makes Carmel a valu- able addition to our team.” Larry Neuringer is Senior Director of Marketing, Heritage Spirits Brands, for Palm Bay International. In this newly-created position, he will focus on strategic develop- ment, consumer and trade advertising, and key initiatives for world-class brands such as Frapin cognac, Los Amantes mezcal, Bauchant liqueur, Boulard calvados, Bottega liqueurs, Alexander grappa and other upcoming portfolio additions. Neuringer will be based in New York, reporting to Alain Barbet, President of Palm Bay International Spirits. He will work closely with Stephanie Kubacki, Senior Director of Marketing, Celera Spirits Brands, who oversees market- ing initiatives for Aperol, Skinnygirl Margarita and other soon-to-be-announced portfo- lio additions. Cocktail enthusiasts from across the country were invited to submit their most creative concoction online at TheGranGalaShakedown.com. Gran Gala assembled a panel of spirits experts in Chicago in September to decide the best of the best. L On the Border Promotion A 12 / the tasting panel / december 2010 ward-winning ultra-premium Hotel California tequila is partnering with On the Border Mexican restaurants with a multi-unit promotion that will run through January in the San Diego area. Hotel California has created a signature cocktail called the Baja Margarita for On the Border. The promotion will include POS materials and special drink prices. Along with bragging rights, Arturo receives a $5,000 American Express gift card. He will also be included on the Gran Gala website as a featured mixologist. The Chambeli Cocktail calls for ¾ oz. Gran Gala, ¾ oz. Aperol, ¾ oz. dry gin, 2 dashes rhubarb bitters and ¾ oz. fresh lemon juice.
