Recently named by Vanguard News as one of the top 25 most influential African-Americans in SouthernArizona, Brown is an ordained minister 32 and an Ambassador of Christ. As a life learner of Jesus Christ for 26 years, she has trained under Dr. Myles Munroe, Bishop T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyers, Bishop Ollie Wills, Apostle Alfred Craig, and Pastor Anthony Moss, and is a graduate of Kingdom University. She operates in the Apostolic/Prophetic tradition to assist in problem resolution within the Body of Christ. Brown has a practical approach to problem resolution and is a consultant, teacher and public speaker to churches, small businesses and nonprofit organiza- tions. WORDS & DEEDS Theworld said farewell toBishopWalterL.Hawkins in July, after his passing from pancreatic cancer. Two services were held in his honor: a musical tribute on July 20, and his Homegoing Service on July 21.Both services took place at the ParamountTheatre inOakland,California. In the 30-plus years of his career, Hawkins created one of the most prolific and outstanding catalogs of hit gospel recordings and published songs.At the age of 19, Hawkins was singing in the Ephesians Church of God in Christ choir, which recorded the hit song “Oh Happy Day” directed by Hawkins’ older brother Edwin. In the next few years, the EdwinHawkins Singers toured nation- ally and internationally beforeWalter set out on his own.
