people NICK SASSO New York-based editorial house Cutting Room has added VFX artist Nick Sasso to its roster. He will serve as lead Flame artist and creative director of motion graphics design. Sasso comes from Out- side Edit + Design, NYC. His credits include work for Chase, Bank of America,BMW, Mercedes, L’o- real, Maybelline New York, Rockstar Games and Absolut. In addition to Outside, Sasso spent time at Manic and Berwyn Editorial, both in NYC. SASSO THEODORE MANIATIS Click 3X in NYC has added VFX artist, composi- tor and creative director Theodore Maniatis to its roster. Maniatis has more than 14 years experi- ence creating imagery for commercials, music videos and films, having worked on campaigns for Adidas, Coca-Cola, Absolut, Mercedes-Benz and Miller. He’s also contributed to music videos for Natasha Bedingfield and The Sugarbabes, and to the 2008 film, The Reader. Maniatis spent time at Animal Logic LA; Psyop and Rhino in NYC;The Mill in London and New York; and Fuel, Digital Pictures, Emerald City Design and Foxtel in Sydney. MANIATIS HARRY MATHIAS This fall, cinematographer Harry Mathias will chair the Moving Image Arts department at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. Mathias will also serve as a full-time cinematogra- phy instructor, drawing on his experience in fea- ture films, television, commercials, publishing and academia. In June, Mathias was named a fellow of the SMPTE. Back in 1980, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Solly’s Diner in the “Best Short Film, Live Action” category. BESNER MICHEL BESNER Montreal’s Penté Group, which develops apps for mobile devices and social media based on en- tertainment personalities’ licenses, has hired Michel Besner as president. Besner was co- founder/president/CEO of Kaydara, developers of MotionBuilder, HumanIK Middleware and the FBX 3D interchange file format.When the company was acquired by Alias in 2004, Besner stayed as VP of biz dev.When Alias was bought by Autodesk, he was put in charge of the 3D entertainment and design visualization. He later moved into the mo- bile messaging market via OZ Communications, an entity acquired by Nokia in 2008. Blum has worked in IT for over 20 years. His career includes managing site operations and system administration on various production lines at Intel during the 1990s, as well as working with Youbet.com and Miracle Data, a provider of outsourced IT for a vast array of local non-profits. LISA GIMENEZ Bicoastal editorial company Jump has hired Lisa Gimenez of Lisa G Reps to handle West Coast sales duties for both their New York and Los An- geles offices. Jump launched its West Coast opera- tions in March. Gimenez has over 16 years of ex- perience in the advertising industry and currently represents companies such as Form and Zoic. BURRES MATTHEW BURRES Shooters Post & Transfer in Philadelphia has added editor Matthew Burres to its creative roster. Burres most recently worked with Charlie- uniformtango as an editor, Smoke artist and graphic designer. He has also worked for 1080, Inc. (formerly MatchFrame), Fast Cuts and Lazlo Rain, all in Texas. Burres’s credits include work for Hyundai, Fujitsu,AT&T,Time Warner, Coors Light, Nestlé and General Mills. He also contributed to an award-winning campaign for the San Antonio Visitors Bureau. His longform work includes The History Channel’s Jurassic Fight Club, and editorial and graphics for The Lost Book of Nostradamus. YETWIN BRIAN YETWIN Full-service, strategic branding agency Bird in Hollywood has named Brian Yetwin as account executive. Prior to joining Bird,Yetwin was a senior account executive/senior copywriter with Iconisus, an entertainment advertising agency based in LA. He also spent four years with motion picture ad- vertising agency,The Ant Farm, also in Los Angeles. STEVEN RICH Sierra Video in Grass Valley, CA, has hired Steven Rich as its regional manager of sales and business development.
