the correct mix makes it to the correct place, network, Web, etc., so, I am often asked to make a single, bulletproof mix in stereo for a commercial." Not knowing if a Web-only commercial might end up on-air, DiCesare mixes everything within the CALM Act's guidelines. He uses the NuGen Audio VisLM loudness meter plug-in to make sure his mixes are always ready for broadcast. The UK-based NuGen is already popular in the European market, and their VisLM loudness meter is gaining a following in the US. DiCesare explains, "I am really impressed with the VisLM because it is the only system I know of that was specifically designed for monitoring levels based on the CALM Act. It has a lot of great pre-sets that meet network spec, like those for the Discovery Channel, built right in. There is even a way to take your finished mix and raise or lower it overall to hit the -24LKFS if your mix is coming in over or under the limit. They really thought of everything." "We just finished up doing ADR for The Lone Ranger, which is out in theaters now," says Cook. "And this morning we shot a segment for a reality show for McDonald's. We do a lot of different things here." They also provide clients with Web development/hosting, script-to-screen video and motion graphics.
