12 May 2009 Recently, Lenovo announced two new workstations—the Think- Station S20 and D20—designed exclusively for specialized professionals in fi elds such as computer-aided design, digital content creation, and oil and gas. The company also debuted its new e-commerce platform, the Lenovo eLounge, powered by ThinkStation workstations, to give customers a unique, inter- active way to experience Lenovo computing solutions online. Turbo-charged for performance, Lenovo's latest workstations can even be confi gured for personal supercomputing, enabling professionals to innovate faster and reduce the time between an idea and a product. With the addition of the Nvidia Tesla C1060 GPU platform, the workstations can offer 240 additional cores of dedicated math processing power to speed up calculations. The new workstations also feature the latest, high-performance technologies, including the choice between the latest Intel Xeon 5500 and W3500 Series for increased effi ciency and performance with optional Intel Turbo Boost Technology for extra performance during peak process- ing, as well as the latest Nvidia Quadro line of professional graphics cards or optional ATI FirePro graphics cards. On the environmental front, both workstations contain 50 percent recycled content, and they have been certifi ed as GreenGuard, meaning they meet standards for more than 2000 chemical tests. The ThinkStation S20 and D20 are avail- able for $1070 and $1550, respectively. On another front, the Lenovo eLounge creates a brand- new e-commerce platform by merging the customer service available at brick-and-mortar stores with the convenience of online shopping. Built on the Unreal Engine from Epic Games and powered by a ThinkStation D Series, Lenovo is giving custom- ers a new, interactive way to learn about and purchase Lenovo computing solutions. Customers can enter the virtual world from anywhere with an Inter- net connection, create an avatar, and browse the product showcase and speak directly with Lenovo sales reps. The eLounge also extends the idea of collaborative shopping so that two people who live in different cities can shop for a PC together and receive answers in real time from Lenovo personnel.
