50 • LMGI COMPASS | Fall 2026 Knaus identifies communication as Daniels' defining strength. "Dustin works closely with producers, directors and the production designer, and lets his managers and keys drive deals and daily logistics. Budgets are built collaboratively, information is shared and the department is expected to understand the whole problem rather than protect individual turf," he says. For LM Yancer, trust is visible at every level. "Dustin might arrive at a set and move from a high-level chat with a director, to a conversation with a key about some kind of complex logistics, to checking in with a PA during their first week to see how they're holding up. And whatever he's doing, he's great at keeping morale high on all levels." "It is very complicated to get all the pieces of the puzzle together," concludes Daniels, "but I am so very proud of the team for making all of it work out … on Landman, on The Madison and on all the other shows. It's an astonishing amount of work and every one of these shows and teams are just doing it at the highest level." Daniels still feels compelled to get out in the field on his own with a camera once in a while. "There'll be days where it's like, 'I've got some time. I'm just gonna go scout.' And it's good to stretch those muscles again, and I absolutely love it. I love getting out there and meeting people and talking to them," he says. "And sometimes on these Sheridan shows, you'll go out and say something you'd never say in any other situation ever like, 'show me the most beautiful pump jack you have on your ranch,' and they'll take you to some really cool place, and you get to see some really interesting things that a lot of the public never get to experience or see. And so, I still love to get out there to stretch my legs." Daniels, previously an LMGI Awards nominee in 2022 for Yellowstone, was honored with a 2025 and 2026 LMGI Awards nomination for "Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Television Series" for each season of Landman. He is currently hard at work on Frisco King. Photos by Dustin Daniels/LMGI
