DOCUMENTARY
SERIES
The Long Way Home
Directed by Michael Apted
โ Presented by the Special Projects Committee
The DGA Special Projects Documentary Series invites you to join us for a special
screening of a 4K remastered and expanded screening of DGA Past President Michael
Apted's critically acclaimed 1989 feature documentary, The Long Way Home.
Unavailable for over 30 years, The Long Way Home follows the odyssey of Soviet underground
rock legend Boris Grebenshchikov on his journey to the West to make an album and bring
it back home in the early, optimistic days of Glasnost. The fi lm also features album producer
Dave Stewart and Grebenshchikov's renowned band, Aquarium, with special appearances
by Annie Lennox, Chrissie Hynde, Ray Cooper, and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Echoing Apted's love of longitudinal storytelling, this remastered and expanded version adds
an epilogue that brings Grebenshchikov's journey up to date, including his exile from Russia
for speaking out against the invasion of Ukraine.
