68 SAG-AFTRA | Summer 2026 | sagaftra.org On Location Spotlight on Solidarity On May 1, Los Angeles Local members joined a coalition of labor unions and community organizations at the annual LA May Day March and Rally. Representing the SAG-AFTRA LA Local, the contingent gathered at MacArthur Park and made its way through downtown to City Hall to champion workers' rights, highlight the intersection of entertainment labor with other vital industries and reinforce the collective strength of union solidarity across the city. ● Head-Smart, Longevity-Focused SAG-AFTRA stunt performers gather at the James Cagney Boardroom and online for HeadSmart: Concussion Awareness for Stunt Professionals. Organized by the LA Local Stunt and Safety Committee, the hybrid event provided the stunt community with scientific insights, nutritional advice and practical exercises to better recognize, manage and reduce the risks of head trauma on set. Panelists also shared vulnerable, firsthand accounts of their stunt careers, highlighting how high-pressure sets can often leave serious head injuries unnoticed. ● Dance Is Fun-Da-Mental Celebrating community and longevity, attendees have the time of their lives dancing at the Dance Is Fun-Da-Mental event hosted by the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Local Dance Committee to support performer longevity and mental health. The gathering took place at The Six Compound in Studio City on April 29 in celebration of International Dance Day. ● Los Angeles A Night of Mystery, Community and Connection Members of the Los Angeles Local NextGen Performers Committee smile together at the Spring Masquerade: An Evening in Bloom, which took place at the Saint Felix Hollywood restaurant on April 29. Hosted by the committee to foster community and networking among young entertainment professionals, the event breathed life into the kind of industry connection, reflection and talk of union involvement that so often gets lost in the busy life of a performer. ● MAURY PHILLIPS
