16 • THE ARTISAN FALL 2026 Lindsay (Carey Mulligan) & Josh (Oscar Isaac) designed to look affluent and posh at the country club, and then they slowly start to unravel. I wanted Lindsay to have "ceramic skin," so in different set lighting, she would look radiant and semi-matte on camera. To achieve that look, I layered K-beauty skincare TIRTIR, massaged into the skin. Techniques like underpainting allowed me to brighten and shape the face before applying a weightless foundation. Rare Beauty Trancesend Highlighter & So Pinch Blush was used for her Monte Vista looks. e complexion was diffused so that everything felt integrated rather than applied. Eyes and lips I kept minimal, keeping the focus on the skin itself. For her groomed brows, I used 152 Blonde by Chanel. For touch-ups, I used Le Mieux's Oxygen Infuser; it's my go-to for instantly refreshing the skin. Josh's skin prep, exfoliating towelette, layered hydrating skincare from IS Clinical, tanning his face, neck, and ears with bronzing drops from Vacation. When we see Josh in prison, I made him matte and slightly pale. Small details—like tonal variation or hand-painted marks—were introduced when needed for the story, but always with a light touch so they remained part of the skin rather than sitting on top of it. Research also played an important role in shaping the visual direction. We explored elements of Korean culture and the nuances of the plastic surgery and beauty space, grounding the work in a reality that felt specific to the world of the story without becoming overly referential. A large part of achieving this look came through our partnerships in beauty. With the support of Caroline Rogers at Sunny Communications, we were connected to Amorepacific, a brand that represents innovation in skincare. Filming at their headquarters, which appears in the series as Chairwoman Park's (Youn Yuh-jung) corporate environment, created a natural alignment between the exfoliates while brightening the complexion, then removed it with a hot towel to bring circulation to the skin. Hydration followed with Artemisia Soothing Gel Cream by Hanyul and Illiyoon Ceramide Lotion; that combo sealed in moisture, making the skin glow. For warmth and continuity, we used Roxanne Rizzo spray tanning on both face and body, building a controlled, sun-touched tone that remained consistent across scenes. Austin (Charles Melton) showed up with this neatly groomed mustache, and it just felt perfect, so we kept it! I added a whimsy sunburn using Skin Illustrator glazing spray applied with a brush, on the bridge of his nose to create this juxtaposition pairing his masculine & unexpected soness. I just love that small detail for Austin. My key Chelsea Oruduño handled most of Ashley's (Cailee Spainey) looks. She took hold of my beauty recipe and elevated it even more. Chelsea & I have worked together for the last five years, and our creative dynamic is gold in my eyes. She just gets me! Freckles and warmth were added in a way that felt incidental, reinforcing the sense that her look came from her environment rather than a deliberate styling choice. Once she moves away from her beverage cart staff position, we gave Ashley this amateur beauty look, which was intentional to match her nervousness to fit in a world she knew nothing about. Ashley in episode four and all those characters in the ER were specially designed to reflect physical trauma, decline, and gritty realism. For bloody fingers in orange juice, Fleet Street Blood soaked in powder puff and placed in Ziplock added to actors' pants. As the passage of time, we start to see Ashley lose her beachy glow moving into her polished Monte Vista conservative look. Switching her skin to a so-matte texture foundation & matte nude color palette all by Charlotte Tilbury. MAKE-UP Continued from page 14 Charles Melton as Austin Davis
