tested endurance. Design, engineering, budgeting, construction and scenic work often advanced simultaneously rather than sequentially. Problems that might normally be solved over weeks were solved over days…or hours. It's a wonder that the City was completed at all. But this miracle is a testament to the dedication, skill and efforts of the hundreds who worked tirelessly to build our futuristic utopia. Collaboration at Scale One of the reasons the project succeeded was the structure of the Art Department itself. While Isabella and I focused on the City's overall vision and the season's primary environments, other key collaborators were simultaneously driving major portions of the show forward. Supervising Art Director Michael Carney and Art Director Nathan Carden led the design of many of the gameplay elements throughout the season. Their work occupied a unique intersection of spectacle, competition, engineering and storytelling, helping define many of the experiences audiences ultimately see on screen. The City itself would not have been possible without Art Director Jason Schara. If Isabella and I were responsible for imagining the City, Jason was instrumental in helping make sure it actually materialized. Managing a construction effort of that scale under such an aggressive timeline was an enormous undertaking. Through weather delays, shifting priorities and the countless challenges that accompany a project this large Jason helped keep the vision moving forward while preserving the integrity of the design. Likewise, Art Director Anya Saner and Assistant Art Directors Sierra Young and Will Lynch played critical roles in helping realize the broader collection of environments that made up the season. Anya's contributions helped translate concepts into finished spaces while maintaining consistency and a visual throughline across a wide range of builds. Sierra and Will's efforts and contributions were wide ranging and instrumental.
