4 I D G A M O N T H L Y A capacity audience filled the ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel as DGA members gathered for the Los Angeles Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. An equally strong turnout was achieved during the Guild's New York Annual Membership Meeting at the DGA New York Theatre on Thursday, June 18. DGA President Christopher Nolan presided over both sessions which came in the wake of reaching a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which the National Board had unanimously approved and recommended for ratification. During his President's Report on the state of the Guild where he identified himself as "half English, half American and all Director," Nolan lauded the new agreement and the dedicated team who achieved it including: Creative Rights Committee Co-Chairs Jonathan Mostow and Jason Reitman on the feature side; Television Creative Rights Committee Co-Chairs Paris Barclay and Tessa Blake for television; and the entire 70-member Negotiations Committee and the supporting DGA staff. He singled out special praise for the Guild's chief negotiator, DGA National Executive Director Russell Hollander, DGA Negotiations Chair Jon Avnet and Vice-Chair Karen Gaviola. "We went into the negotiation focused on three areas: healthcare, protections against the growth of AI, and what that may mean for everybody, and jobs generally," said Nolan. "I am extraordinarily thrilled with what they have been able to achieve in a complex negotiation. I think you will be too. I generally had no idea the amount of time, the difficulties faced by this Committee, the commitment that is required from these members. So, I want to thank that entire Committee and have a round of applause for them because what they did is above and beyond." 2026 DGA Annual Membership Meetings in Los Angeles DGA members fill the ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel to hear DGA President Christopher Nolan deliver the State-of-the-Guild Report. DGA members catch up with friends and colleagues during the Annual Membership Meetings in Los Angeles and New York.
