LMGI COMPASS | Spring 2026 • 47 Katy Perry's Firework Music Video One of the more obscure location-finding missions Beliczai worked on was for Katy Perry's unusual music video for her song "Firework" in which fireworks appear to be coming out of her body. The production team for the video asked Beliczai to find a large green field or a big area where a few hundred fans (who had travelled to Budapest after winning a competition) could gather and dance together with Katy under the big fireworks display. "I had a more unique idea in mind— instead of a plain field, I suggested the Lion Courtyard of Buda Castle, again one of the most iconic landmarks in Budapest. It's far more beautiful and visually striking, especially at night. They loved the idea and ended up shooting there. The video has now reached more than 1.5 billion views, and it's always a pleasant thought that I helped showcase this beautiful part of my city to such a massive global audience," says Beliczai. She also recalls another outside-the-box location choice for the Netflix series All the Light We Cannot See. "There was a scene where some of the characters are escaping from Paris and they needed a French train station. There are a couple of stations here that could've doubled for Paris, but instead I proposed an abandoned building called The Exchange Palace (MTV) in Liberty Square—an ornate, iconic filming location that had been used for many years, though never as a station. When the production designer (Simon Elliott) and I stepped inside, it just seemed ideal," says Beliczai. "Later I got feedback from another production designer, Gemma Jackson, who saw the movie and said what a great idea it was to film there." Photos courtesy of Radical Media
