LOCAL706.ORG • 5 Brothers, Sisters, and Kin, At its core, our industry has always been built on collective efforts by people showing up for one another and taking pride in the work we do together. That shared foundation is what makes our union strong , and it's what we must continue to protect. One of the most direct ways we protect our work is by ensuring that union jobs stay union. Hiring members in good standing not only upholds our agreements; it reinforces the standards we've fought to establish. We must prioritize our membership, honor the oath we took, and ensure fairness and respect for all members when hiring one another for work. Every time we choose to bring on a qualified union member, we strengthen our collective voice and keep our work within the jurisdiction we've built together. Organizing nonunion shows is essential to protecting the strength and future of our industry. When productions operate outside union standards, they often drive down wages, weaken working conditions, and strip away the basic protections that so many have fought hard to win. Bringing these shows under union agreements doesn't just help those workers; it raises the standard for everyone. There is real power in numbers. The more workers who stand together, the harder it becomes for employers to divide us or lower the bar. Unity creates leverage, and leverage is what secures fair pay, safe working environments, and respect on the job. Protecting our membership requires us to be proactive. If nonunion work continues to grow unchecked, it undermines our bargaining power and threatens the stability of union jobs. Organizing is how we defend what we've built while expanding opportunity for others to benefit from those same protections. It's about solidarity, sustainability, and securing a fair future for everyone in our industry. We are only as strong as we are united.
