Justin also made a second, longer wig used for his present time Mandarin bun and a key flashback moment. For both wigs, the cutting process centered on movement. I used razor-cutting techniques to remove weight and encourage the hair's natural wave and flow. Styling was built through layering products applied section by section by hand to build texture, separation, dimension, and movement. For the Episode 2 flashback, I darkened the hero wig using an airbrush, covering the gray, and I custom- colored tape in extensions to add length. For his pre-Mandarin look in Episode 6, I created a low, messy textured ponytail, and for Episode 8, I explored multiple variations of his new Mandarin bun before landing on a version that felt emotionally honest. These decisions were shaped through ongoing collaboration with Destin, Andrew, and Brian. In Episodes 5-8, Kent Nelson applied and maintained Trevor's wigs that I had designed and established, allowing me to continue focusing on designing and department- heading the remainder of Wonder Man. The 1980's Wonder Man film for Brent Willard, played by Dane Larsen was so much fun! I presented multiple mullet variations. before aligning with the team on a voluminous, iconic shape. Using a human hair wig, I cut primarily with a razor and built dimension through multiple rounds of balayage to achieve a layered, lived-in color. After setting, I broke down the style to create a perfectly imperfect texture that felt authentic to the era. Kent Nelson and Chrissy Enlow applied this wig for Episode 1. Our team of artists brought incredible artistry, experience, and energy to the series. Jacki Brown, a highly sought-after Local 706 barber, established the look for Eric Williams, played by Demetrius Grosse. Jacki, alongside Natita Stribling, maintained cuts for both Demetrius and Byron Bowers, while Natita also supported stunt wig applications and provided barbering and hair styling for select guest stars—her versatility making her an essential part of the team. We also had guest star cameos with Josh Gad and Joe Pantoliano, both playing themselves. Byron Bowers as DeMarr Davis and Josh Gad as himself For DeMarr "Doorman" Davis, played by Byron Bowers, I designed three evolving looks, executed and established by sought-after Local 706 barber DC the Barber. DC's clean taper fades, precise parts, and textured finishes helped define DeMarr's confident evolution. For Janelle, played by X Mayo, I brought on Candi Russell to apply and style her wigs, continuing a long-standing creative partnership. For Arian Moayed as Agent Cleary, I designed a modern mullet using razor-cutting techniques to enhance his natural curl pattern while keeping the shape soft and lived-in. The cut complemented his tailored suits, adding a subtle Hollywood edge while revealing a more relaxed, contemporary side of the character. Thank you to our extraordinary team and our Local 706 family, many of whom I've collaborated with on multiple projects: Steven Berg, Santoy Dorsey, Andrea Garcia, Patrick Killian, Chanthy Tach, Kristen Saia, Henry Salazar, and Noogie Thai, along with wig makers Rickie Dewayne and Daniel Wood. Their artistry, dedication, and heart helped bring these characters to life. Wonder Man ultimately became more than just a show—it became a true celebration of collaboration, artistry, and the creative community in Los Angeles.
