Marking the occasion, which brings together labor organizations, local studios and legislators to celebrate the strides made in boosting the city's entertainment and media industry, was Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal, presenting SAG-AFTRA with a proclamation naming April 13 as "SAG-AFTRA Appreciation Day" in the Borough of Manhattan. U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, NY City Council Speaker Julie Menin, and the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner Raphael Espinal spoke at the event. Other attendees included NY State Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon; Vice President, NY & NY Local President Ezra Knight, Executive Vice President & NY Local Vice President Linda Powell; and SAG-AFTRA Chief Labor Policy Officer & NY Local Executive Director Rebecca Damon.
