2 M PS E . O R G Welcome to Wavelength's Spring 2026 edition! The 73rd MPSE Golden Reel Awards are in the books, and wow, what an event celebrating a fantastic year in sound! Congratulations to all the nominees and winners on your inspiring achievements. Once again, the team behind the Golden Reel Awards has outdone itself. Executive director Tracie Costabile, show director Steven Avila, the team at Sequoia Productions, the GRA Committee, and the volunteers put on another spectacular event. Thank you also to Amelia Montgomery for all our graphics packages and Robert Reeves for our social media coverage; and to IngleDodd Media, Perception PR, the staff of the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, and of course, all our sponsors, without whom this event simply would not happen. One of the absolute best things about the sound community is just that: the community. Being around people who share your passion is infectious and inspirational. From veteran sound editors, designers, and Foley artists to the up- and-coming and aspiring, the energy this whole weekend was electric. It started on Thursday night with the annual MPSE-sponsored Tonebenders Sound Design Meet Up, which boasted a record-breaking 300+ attendees, and continued Friday morning with our student-nominee tours of NBC/Universal, Levels, Formosa, and Glen Glenn Stages. Special shout-out to Korey Pereira and Timothy Muirhead for leading that student tour. Sunday morning, we had the John Roesch-inspired "Pre-GRAs Breakfast on Sunset," attended by current and former student nominees, as well as Mr. Roesch himself ! A wonderful way to kick off the Golden Reel Awards day. Whilst the celebration is fresh behind us, it is still clear that there is much work to be done. Educating, entertaining, and inspiring those who are unaware of the art of sound and its impact on storytelling remains the vital function of the MPSE. We are working hard to broadcast our message to the masses, and thanks to all of you, we have the credibility and resources to make our mission a reality. Your membership and continued support of the Motion Picture Sound Editors are everything, and we thank you. Please like and/or follow us on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X, and like and share our content. Social media is an important vehicle, and your help is needed to inform and inspire beyond the walls of the sound community!
