26 S P R I N G 2 0 2 6 I C A S Q U A R T E R L Y b y P a t r i c k S p a i n C A S The Sounding Board v5.0 was a co- produced event between CAS and MPSE held on November 2, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Loyola Marymount University, Westchester Campus, Los Angeles, CA. It was a day of in-person discussions about the practical, creative, and technical art of sound for picture. Following breakfast, CAS Executive Officer Lindsey Alvarez and MPSE President David Barber opened the day thanking professor Roy Finch and the School of Film and Television for their work with Dean Moore, and their partnership in helping the event to grow and find a new home at Loyola Marymount University. They concluded their remarks with the presentation of a check to Bernard Weiser MPSE, President of EIPMA. The Entertainment Industry Professionals Mentoring Alliance (EIPMA) is an organization close to the hearts of both the CAS and MPSE. EIPMA was established after the passing of industry veteran Paul Rodriguez, who gave his time and experience so generously to those wanting to learn. EIPMA's mission is to give career guidance for individuals seeking craft and technical careers in the entertainment industry, which aligns with both the MPSE and the CAS. Bernard responded that CAS and MPSE, as founding organizations, have been instrumental in the growth and continued service of EIPMA and that the check for $4,150 would support many of the upcoming year's endeavors.
