2 PROP CULTURE I WINTER 2026 FROM THE PRESIDENT T hank you for picking up our fifth issue of Prop Culture magazine, and for joining us throughout our inaugural year. When we set out to create Prop Culture, we hoped to capture the energy and artistry that define the Property Department. Looking back over our first year, I am incredibly proud of our team of dedicated editors and contributors who have built this one-of-a-kind publication from the ground up. Each issue has been a fantastic look inside the craft and to a world that is often overlooked yet central to the magic of storytelling. Over the past year, our pages have taken you behind the curtain and into the workshops, offices, and minds of some of the most gifted craftspeople in the industry. We have profiled the creation of iconic props that shaped film history, revisited the toys and collectibles that became cultural touchstones and have had firsthand interviews with some of the industry's leading players while making sure to shine a light on the artistry of props. Along the way, we have shared stories of long nights, impossible deadlines, ingenious problem-solving, and the very human dedication that drives this craft. Each issue has been both a history lesson and a celebration, revealing that some of the most memorable objects in cinema carry with them the fingerprints, sweat, and imagination of the Property Master. As we begin our second year of publication, we turn to our 2nd Annual MacGuffin Awards celebration. This year's Property Masters Guild Awards were hosted at Paramount Studios in the heart of Hollywood, gathering property persons from across the globe. Guests came from across the United States, including Puerto Rico, Canada, Great Britain, Hungary, Brazil, Italy, and Germany. The nominees and winners continue to set a standard of excellence that inspires all of us who love and respect this craft. As the Guild grows, so too do our ambitions. From securing an official IMDb category for Property Masters to expanding community involvement and member support, we are proud to be moving forward together. With your continued support and encouragement, Prop Culture will keep chronicling the stories, achievements, and heart of the property community. On behalf of the entire Prop Culture team, I thank you for being with us as we go into our second year. We are excited about what lies ahead and look forward to having you with us as we continue to celebrate the art and creative soul of the Property Department.
