Parrish. I walked up to both Dennis and Hope and got my moment with him as everybody wanted to see and talk to the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. He wanted to talk about my book, and I wanted to talk about Papillon and Patton and his career. At that moment , I achieved why I came to Hollywood, I got to meet Dennis. Then it was time to go to our seats in the beautiful Paramount Theatre. The opening welcome from Brad Elliott, Theresa Corvino, and Lauren Shell was wonderful, and their funny photo montage of how useful MacGuffin trophies are was fun. Then we were treated to Livi Dom's great film montage of all the award nominees' work, which was inspiring to watch. The first award of the night was Contemporary Film (my category). When the presenters came on stage, it was cinematographer Amy Vincent and Academy Award nominee Virginia Madsen. I thought, I hope I get to say hello to Virginia at some point during the evening as we had done two films together 25 years earlier. Then when Amy said my name, I thought "Is this real?" I paused for a second and saw my name on the screen behind them and made my way to the stage. As I leaned in to take the award from Virginia, I said, "This is a long way from Crossfire Trail, Virginia." I loved the look on her face at that moment for both of us. When I pulled out the speech that I wrote some pencil notes on, I realized without my glasses I couldn't see what I wrote, so I had to make it up on the fly. I was happy I thanked my wife, and in the end, Dennis Parrish. It all happened so fast, one minute you are sitting there, then on stage, and then backstage for photos and an interview. As I was being escorted back to the theater, I realized I had to let my wife Janice know. I had the young lady take a photo so I could text it to Janice. I loved watching all the various award winners' speeches. There was a true joy in all of them, and a love of craft and a recognition of their teams. Chuck McSorley's Humanitarian Award was truly inspiring. Seeing Dean Eilertson win for Shōgun was also special to me. Then the moment of the night for me was watching Dennis Parrish's Lifetime Achievement Award film and his wonderful speech. The group photo of award winners will be a cherished photo for me. When the show wrapped up, there was a great after-party, and I got to meet more world-class Property Masters and their teams. Livi Dom told me she had trouble explaining what she does to her dad, then she gave him my book, and he now understands her career. A big moment at the after- party was when Hope Parrish, Emily Ferry, and Ellen Freund came over to talk to Dean Eilertson and me. Hope looked at me and said, "Aren't you glad I told you to come?" When Dean, Paul, and Kellianne and I got back to the Godfrey, we went up to the rooftop bar that was closing, but they gave us drinks and let us sit and soak up the night on that rooftop patio in Hollywood. I met a few more Property Masters at breakfast the next morning before heading to the airport for my plane home and an 8 am call the next morning. I don't know how to sum up a perfect weekend in Hollywood From the opening meet and greet, to the flawless, incredibly produced awards ceremony, I was in awe the entire time. Every property person needs to experience the MacGuffin Awards at least once in their career. My MacGuffin is especially joyful to me as it was for the last feature film I will ever property master. I can't wait to see what all the next-generation Property Masters do in their future with the backing of the Property Masters Guild. As far as useful ways to use my award? Toilet paper roll holder, vine trainer, etc., I think I will just look at it and smile at the memory of a perfect weekend in Hollywood. Yes, Hope, I am glad you told me to come to Hollywood. 2025 MacGuffin Red Carpet Report HANNAH OLSEN Property Master, Los Angeles Property Master of Melanie Martinez: Spider Web puts a spin on a sequined sheath dress with a darling chiffon capelet.
