Awards Night Revue I got a message from fellow MacGuffin Award nominee Dean Eilertson of Shōgun that he was talking to Hope Parrish, and she wanted the two Deans to come to Hollywood. I was in the middle of prepping a big sequence for my show, and the MacGuffins were on my mind because of my two nominations. One for Percy Jackson and the Olympians with Co-Property Master Michelle Hendriksen, and the other for Heretic, but I still wasn't sure about going. When I talked to my wife Janice that night, she said, "you are going." I had a list of Property Masters I wanted to meet, and Dennis and Hope Parrish were at the top of my list. I could list all the others, but that would take up the rest of this page. Airline tickets and a room at the Godfrey Hotel in Hollywood booked, I made my way to Los Angeles with no real idea of what to expect. I have an aversion to crowds, so I sat in my room procrastinating about going to the rooftop meet and greet at the hotel. It was intimidating stepping off the elevator as my imposter syndrome was running high. Looking By Dean Goodine, PMG 10 PROP CULTURE I WINTER 2026 around, I did not know anybody, so I went and sat in a corner and contemplated leaving, but suddenly I saw my friend Paul Wagner and his wife Kellianne and said hello. I told Paul I wanted to meet Theresa Corvino because she kept emailing me to submit for Heretic. Within 30 seconds, I got to meet her, thank her, and just chat. From there, the meet and greet took off. To stand there with the talented Property Masters from Wicked, Ripley, Shōgun, The Studio, A Complete Unknown, Fallout, Severance, etc., was truly astonishing to me. Waking up on awards day in Hollywood found me feeling somewhat drained from a tough film week, travel day, and meet and greet. I also realized I never wrote a speech. I did have a speech in my suit pocket, but it was for a friend who could not attend, and he asked me to accept if he won. I pulled out a pencil and wrote a few things on the outside of his folded speech if I ended up on stage. I cannot begin to explain the joy I was having that weekend, but to step out of an SUV at that famous studio and to see a red carpet for nominees had me pause and just take it all in. Red carpet done, it was time to grab a drink and mingle. I only had one person in mind to see, Dennis "Hope said you have to come to the MacGuffin Awards."
