94 M PS E . O R G increasing its international membership, and Mexico is a big part of realising that ambition. Representatives at the MPSE table at the event met with a lot of curiosity and interest from the many sound professionals in attendance. After a long day of presentations and discussions, event attendees were welcomed to a beautiful outdoor courtyard for a catered dinner. The bar was also opened with an enticing selection of bespoke bright-coloured drinks, filled with fresh fruit. The rest of the evening was devoted to meeting and connecting with friends, both old and new. This was the first event of its kind ever hosted in Mexico City; the very first time the sound community gathered to celebrate and discuss the highs and lows of working in audio post in a large group. Although the vast majority of the people in attendance were local, some had come from great distances to be a part of the day. Longtime MPSE member Israel Gutierrez travelled by bus from Aguascalientes, nine hours each way, to get to Mexico City. Others flew in from Monterrey, Tijuana, Guadalajara, and other parts of the country. Even a few Mexican expats flew back home from their current homes in the USA to take part in the event. Among them, the current Golden Reel, Verna Fields Award winner (Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing for a Student Film), Eugenio Mirafuentes. One of the biggest signs of success of the event was that people didn't want to go home!
