TONEBENDERS SOUND DESIGN MEET UP IN LONDON BY TIMOTHY MUIRHEAD MPSE n 2024, the Tonebenders Sound Design podcast partnered with the Motion Picture Sound Editors to hold one of the MPSE's first-ever events in London, England. It was an amazing success, with lots of the people who make up the sound community in the UK coming out to fill up the venue. It was such a smashing success, we all thought, "why not do it again?!" So, version 2.0 was organised to take place on a warm August evening in Soho, and it was just as much fun! This time, we picked a bigger venue, and it is a good thing we did, because once again the place was packed with all types of lovely people who are making their living in audio. The range of experience in the room was vast and inspiring! There were Oscar winners chatting away with people recently out of school and finding their way into the industry. Also joining the party this time was MPSE President David Barber, who flew in from Los Angeles to be a part of the festivities. This was the first time an MPSE president had visited England in such a capacity, and I know he had a blast getting to know many of the organization's members that reside there.
