The ADR process was addressed, from flagging lines, to recording, to integrating those lines into the rest of the dialogue session. A sound effects and Foley session was also broken down from top to bottom. The final masterclass was from Dallas- based MPSE member René Coronado. René is a co-owner of Dallas Audio Post and counts the Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks major league sports teams as longtime clients. For his presentation, René recounted the story of how the American Airlines Center arena came to have a 14-channel surround system that has 12 surround speakers aimed inward toward the centerline arrays. He explained his process for creating a template that allows him to design the soundtracks of the hype videos using all 14 channels, as well as monitor the mix in his control room in a way that simulates the immersive experience at the arena. It's a unique setup but the principles René employs are applicable to other non-standard playback systems and installations. All three masterclass talks were full to capacity, with students and guests lining the walls around the room after all the seats were filled.
