It's hard to believe we've arrived here once again—standing at the close of another year, soon to be singing the familiar words of "Auld Lang Syne." What a remarkable journey this year has been for the MPSE. This has truly been a record-setting year in every sense. We've welcomed new members from around the world and expanded our presence with an impressive 15 events across the USA , London, Europe, Canada, and Mexico— with more on the horizon. (A heartfelt thank-you to MPSE Executive Director Tracie Costabile Dumm for helping make so much of this possible!) You'll find recaps of many of these gatherings in this and every edition of Wavelength, capturing the excitement, collaboration, and camaraderie that continue to define our global sound community. And of course, we celebrate the friendships—both long-standing and newly formed—that connect us across continents. The MPSE thrives because of the passion, curiosity, and generosity of its members. Your participation, your artistry, and your willingness to share what you've learned enrich us all. We are grateful. In this winter edition, we are honored to feature an array of inspiring voices and stories. On our cover, award- winning sound designer Oriol Tarragó MPSE of Barcelona is interviewed by Peter Albrechtsen MPSE of Copenhagen (Pg. 38). From Sydney, Jenny Ward MPSE brings us her insightful conversation with New Zealand's award-winning sound designer Tim Prebble (Pg. 58). Jenny also offers a moving tribute to the legendary Japanese sound editor and Foley artist Akihiko Okase, accompanied by heartfelt remembrances from many of his esteemed peers (Pg. 44). And C5 Inc.'s Marko A . Costanzo and George Lara, together with David Barber MPSE, share the poignant and powerful story behind the award-winning C5 Foley House's final footsteps (Pg. 78). As we close another eventful year—one filled with creative breakthroughs, unexpected challenges, and countless moments of inspiration—I want to extend my warmest seasonal wishes to our entire sound community: sound editors, sound designers, music editors, Foley artists, production sound mixers, and re-recording mixers. Through every trial and triumph, your dedication has kept our craft vibrant and ever-evolving. It is your spirit, your resilience, and your creativity that carry us confidently into the year ahead.
