M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 7 Welcome to Wavelength's Winter 2026 edition! How are we at the end of the year already?! As I'm sure you have all seen and surmised, aside from awards season, the fall is hands down our busiest time of the year! And I hope you all had opportunities to participate in some of these outstanding events. On September 20, the MPSE and Riot Games held the first Game Audio Fest on Riot Games' stunning campus in West Los Angeles. Guests were treated to conversations about sound across games, film, and television, as well as a panel on how AAA live- service game teams approach audio. Vasa Park and the beautiful October California sun welcomed the families of the MPSE to our annual picnic. There was food, games, prizes, and camaraderie aplenty. It was a day not to have been missed. Traffic was high at the MPSE booth at GameSoundCon 2025 in Burbank on October 29 and 30, due in no small part to the vintage Defender arcade game provided by Chris Reeves. Attendees were privileged to participate in two inspiring days of learning and discovery by way of 80 sessions exploring all facets of interactive sound. And then came November! Sounding Board v5.0 was held this year at Loyola Mary- mount University. Along with our partner, the Cinema Audio Society, this event contin- ues to improve and grow year after year. In addition to three delicious meals, attendees learned from some of the best our industry has to offer on a range of compelling and pertinent topics. Once again, we sponsored the "Sonic Days 2025" two-day event in Kolding, Den- mark, hosted by Sonic College. It is an annual conference that focuses on sound design, technology, and innovation in the audio industry. Guests were treated to a wealth of knowledge via panels, demonstrations, and, of course, screenings and Q&As in the MPSE theater. MPSE Executive Director Tracie Costabile represented our organization in person, providing information and inspiration to all participants. Lastly, we held our first event with Disney! David Fluhr gave an enlightening and entertaining look into some of his legendary mixes. An event tailored to professionals, David was able to sidestep the pedestrian and wow us with the meat and potatoes that we all craved. My sincerest thanks to all the panelists, moderators, vendors, volunteers, and MPSE representatives who made this fall epic. Lastly, our Board elections are complete! Congratulations to our new Board members: Alex Borquez, Timothy Day, and Nicholas Papaleo, and to our returning Board members: Peter Albrechtsen, Baylon Fonseca, Kevin Howard, Mark Lanza, and Tim Muirhead.
