M OT I O N P I CTU R E S O U N D E D I TO R S 107 Why MPSE's Involvement Matters For MPSE, exhibiting and sponsoring at GameSoundCon was a statement of recognition, appreciation, and advocacy for the game-audio community. The MPSE has celebrated outstanding work in interactive sound at the Golden Reel Awards for more than two decades, and our presence at the conference reaffirmed that commitment while emphasizing our goal to increase the overall visibility and presence of game audio within the broader entertainment industry. In my eight years serving on the MPSE Board, and as I seek re-election for a fifth term, I have seen the organization continue to evolve, ensuring that editors working in games feel represented, supported, and celebrated. GameSoundCon offered the perfect platform to connect with peers, share knowledge, and demonstrate that MPSE is here to champion their artistry. Our presence underscored three key ideas: 1. Cross-media fluency matters. Editors who understand both linear and interactive workflows bring invaluable perspective to modern storytelling. 2. Community is everything. Networking and knowledge-sharing form the foundation of creative growth and collaboration. 3. Excellence transcends platforms. Whether cutting cinematic dialogue or mastering adaptive speech in Wwise, the editorial mindset—attention to detail, emotional storytelling, and sonic precision—remains constant. Looking Ahead From the show floor to the mixer, MPSE's presence at GameSoundCon 2025 reaffirmed its growing role in shaping the future of interactive storytelling. Our involvement represented more than sponsorship. It reflected our ongoing commitment to be present, visible, and engaged within the game- audio community we value so deeply.
